JUST MISSES TITLE!
In their first year playing in the North Harbour West Coast Pennant division, our team lead by Scott Wightman had a stunning year. Leaders after the round-robin section, they beat South Head in the semifinals, then lost to Redwood Park in a sudden-death playoff after the final was locked at 4-all. Congratulations to all our team and their management team.
BIG EVENTS FOR MANGAWHAI 2017
We've long proclaimed Mangawhai as one of New Zealand's premier club courses - and recognition of this is gaining momentum.
This year, in December, we'll be the venue for the prestigious Toro Interprovincials.
We know top players really enjoy Mangawhai - and we're looking forward to having them here in the coming months.
COURSE DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN
REACHES DECISION POINT
Like most courses, Mangawhai is critiqued and complimented by members and visitors, with many offering widely varying views on "what should be done to make it better.". Faced with some significant decisions, our Club has adopted a Course Development Plan to be implemented over the coming 3 years.
The Plan was enthusiastically supported at a Special General Meeting. No major reconstruction is planned, rather a general upgrade of holes encompassing tree removal, bunker redesign, greens reshaping and tee alignment.
While there always injdividual opinions, the great majority of membership is already pleased with the changes to the course that are allowing more light onto fairways and fairer shots to greens.
